Twinworld is an social app for Microsoft Hololens, allowing users to create their virtual space and invite other AR users to play.
The company was in the early stage of building the service, and I proposed experience vision and ux principles with videos and prototypes.

principles
There are fundamental differences in how users interact with an AR headset compared to flat, touch devices.
There were two perspectives to consider to truly optimize the experience for this new device - making interactions easy and intuitive enough for new users, but also utilizing the potential of the spatial interface to create a more joyful and magical experience.
As a proposal for key ideas, I built a few Unity prototypes and shared them with the team.
01
small action, magical impact
In Twin World, users can create their own space to meet each other from. It was to important to design the process of creating the space enjoyable as meeting others.
I came up with a few interactions like a 'magic box' which can build a huge object or change the whole scene with a simple action. This reduces the users' fatigue to manually decorate the space and utilize the spatial interface to create a magical moment.
02
more than
seeing each other
The social AR app has to provide more than what's possible in the real life, or on a call. To unleash a social interaction between them, I designed elements to nudge people to interact with each other.
The gesture particle effect is one of them. It's a virtual band that users can put on, and these effects are visible and audible for everyone, making virtual interaction between users possible.
